I know quite a few of you die hards are still using Windows XP and may be curious as to the schedule for Service Pack 3, when it will be out, etc. Microsoft has seemingly continued to delay this release for testing purposes, much like they did with Vista’s SP1. Others have speculated that it is an attempt to continue to boost Vista’s sales.
Regardless it is on the way and here is the schedule thanks to Neowin.net for the hook up:
- April 14, 2008: Support is available for the release version of Service Pack 3 for Windows XP
- April 21, 2008: Original Equipment Manufacturers, Volume License, Connect, and MSDN and TechNet subscribers
- April 29, 2008: Microsoft Update, Windows Update, Download Center
- June 10, 2008: Automatic Updates
Basically April 29th is the soonest you can go out to download it, or you can wait for it to come to you June 10th, your call.
XP SP3 contains 1,073 patches/hotfixes, just a few. And a some new features in relation to security and networking.
