Word has that 8800Ultra will be retired this month.. is this good news on the 9800GX2 front?
We have picked up some rumors today in regards to Nvidia’s plans for the 8800Ultra. It seems they let card manufacturers know that they are no longer taking orders for Nvidia’s king of the hill card and they should procede to sell their stock as soon as possible.
The card, while only a slight variation of the 8800GTX, has given the performance crown to Nvidia for over 8 months now. Is the a sign that the 9800GX2 dual GPU card is on the way shortly? That and the fact that ATI’s new 3870X2 seems to be quite the card and quite probably dethroning the Ultra as the top performer could be good news for a new high end part from Nvidia
