Ross from OCForums/XS capped off an impressive showing at the Gigabyte Invitational by winning the 3DMark01 round with a score of 87,670 for 10 points. The 3DMark01 round was weighted more heavily than the previous two rounds, as 3DMark01 is a significantly more difficult benchmark to produce high scores with. Evidence of this is found in the fact that 3 out of 10 competitors failed to report a score.
Crashing was prominent in this round, and at the end Jeremy fried out a choke on his motherboard that filled the room with a nice scent of burning plastic.
Running score totals have Ross with a mathematical victory at 21 points, Chris in second with 10, and a tie for third between Guatam and Mark with 8.
The last benchmark is 3DMark06, which will also be weighted with a 10, 8, 5, 3 distribution of points for the top 4 finishers. Since the competition has limited the combatants to 9600GTs, no world records will be broken today. However, we have seen several of the 10 Intel QX9650 processors push upwards of 5.7GHz, so perhaps a last ditch effort to break some clock speed records is in order.
Stay tuned for a wrap up of the day’s competition with 3DMark06 results. Complete score table can be found below.
