The 3DMark06 test hosted some pretty spectator friendly events, such as Mark’s “Fireworks” artifacts in the canyon test. Oddly enough, Mark ended up pulling out the top spot in 3DMark06 even with the brutal artifacting, submitting a score of 16705 (with an 8824 CPU score). This is a pretty insane score for a 9600GT. He actually beat that score with a 16880 but was unable to capture a screenshot so it was not counted (per rules). For his winning run, Mark’s Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 was clocked at 5400MHz (13×420MHz) and his 9600GT was at 904MHz core, 1172MHz memory, and 2369MHz shaders. Of course, temperatures during the run were consistently under -140C.

Fugger pulled out second in the 3DMark06 test, with a score of 16188, while Ross finished third with a score of 15400.

All competition in this round was in vain, however, as Ross was already guaranteed 1st place in the tournament. Ross ended with 26 points on the day, which was a full 8 in front Mark, who came in second at 18 points.

Looks like an all XS podium. I was pulling for Fugger (Charles) in this contest, as the owner of XtremeSystems is a long time overclocking icon.
